Idle thoughts and scatter shots

I saw a note on the forums last night that I thought was pretty helpful. Someone said that he seats Centurion when the Empire game starts, to get the benefit of extra health. Then before taking any shots, he switched to his regular LT to get the most power. And finally, when he was dead without the prospect of health packs, he switched to Trix.

The chances of getting healed by Trix are low. Maybe it works. I'm not inclined to give up that much power to put my wimpy Trix out there, even dead.

I have been saying previously that the new skills introduced last month give the game some variety. Today I'd like to suggest a different approach. Think about which skills are active (require a token) and which are passive. It seems to me that players should just load up on all of the passives. They don't require any change of strategy or tactics to get the benefit.

Whether you decide you want an active skill or not ought to be based on how you like to play the game. I like the idea of heavies putting bombs on people, and Assassins just playing backstab ninja with inactive offensive players. Well, I guess I like a mix. Most assassins are busy clearing buildings, and executing players. Most heavies are doing demo. But as the opportunities for variety increase, the ways you can play, and the kinds of fun you can have, are new and terrific.

Most of the class skills are fairly lame at level 1. You'll need to be at level 2 to start to have fun with them. And level 3 class skills require a significant class coin investment - which means a significant time investment. You have to wait a long time to get 10,000 CCs to buy level 3 decap. Oh, and this goes without saying - you can't get to level 2 if you don't have level 1.

It's been said before, but while we are talking about class skills, we should mention class levels. You get class levels from "Class XP." You get class XP from two places. You get 7 XP for each Empire game you play. Three games a day will give you 21, assigned to whatever class you played each game. The other source is boss jobs. Whatever class you play in the job, you will get some Class XP for every 10 XP, I think. But this is the key part: You have to be using your class skill in the boss job. If you just click "Attack" instead of "Stab" or "Blow" or whatever the lower button is, you won't get any Class XP. Sometimes the Class Skill produces less damage in the boss job than the vanilla attack does. The heads up player knows this, and decides which matters most at that time, and does as she pleases.
